The King Anthologies- Entry Two

October 20, 2011

She blinked, twice. King stared, still hanging onto her ankle he felt his thumb begin to slowly feel her soft skin. He quickly stopped himself and dropped her foot.

“Dont you watch where you’re going? You can’t go barreling around a corner into a girl half your size and not expect her not to say something” She was picking items of the sidewalk, her ass bobbing around in the air and she moved about. She clearly wasnt concerned about him attacking her at all. How strange. All the women around this part of the city were finicky and shaky. She obviously wasnt a coke head or anything remotely similar. King found himself entranced by the blood-red curls covering her face. He leaned forward, wanting to see more of her. She finished picking up her dropped items and looked at him.

“Hey! Back off a bit or you’ll get another shot to the abs pretty boy.” PRETTY BOY!? Well King had never been called that in his life. This chick had balls.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to bump into you like that.” King stepped back as she had requested. He didn’t know what had come over him. An insult then listening to her tell him what to do? Was he sick? Had her hit made a connection and rocked his brain out of his head? He wasnt sure. He kinda just stood there like an idiot waiting for her to say something else. Almost needing her to say something else. He wanted to hear her voice again.

“Watch where you’re going next time and no one will get hurt” She shot him a wink and continued to walk down the street, around the corner and into the alley, swallowed by the blackness. King stood where he was, motionless, stunned even. He was just hit, insulted and corrected by a women in 5 minutes and didn’t respond with anything but an apology? He was supposed to be this badass hit man, and he couldn’t put a mouthy little red-head in her place? Jesus he needed a drink!

King began to wander down the street, where could he get a drink at four in the morning? He kept walking. This time with more than just food on his mind.
